GYMNASTICS COACHES

Gymnastics Experience

At the age of 13, Riley was interested in trying something new and became a gymnastics coach in training. Riley grew a passion for gymnastics and  helping kids achieve their personal goals. After graduating from Ecole Secondaire Catholique Theriault, she studied Massage Therapy for 3 years at Georgian College in Barrie.  During her second year in Barrie, she worked at Northern stars Gymnastics as she missed the coaching aspect in her life. Upon returning from her post-secondary studies in 2008, she decided to continue on with what she loved to do, coaching Gymnastics!  Riley got more involved at the club in Timmins.  She became a competitive coach by successfully completing her NCCP Level 2, attended stretching and conditioning workshops and took over the programs and became Head Coach with the City run Program.  In 2010, there was a transition in effect at the club to which she was hired on as a coach.  Riley's goal was to become more than a coach and by 2012 she was hired on as the Recreational Program Manager.  This position enabled her to develop new programs, assist in the operations of the club, mentor and recruit coaches and much more all while continuing to coach gymnastics. She continued to expand her knowledge in gymnastics by attending more workshops and higher level qualifications.  Her passion for teaching gymnastics to kids continues to grow as she branches off to start a new journey.  In her coaching career, Riley has been working with children from ages 16 months to adults and has also had many successful athletes that attended Competitions.

Dance Background

Riley started dancing at the age of 8.  She started out with Jazz for her first year and picked up on it quickly and decided to add Tap during her second year.  As her love for dance continued to grow, she was into Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, opening and closing numbers by the end of her 15 years of experience.  With her love for teaching kids, experience in gymnastics and dance, she decided to start teaching and helping out with Acrobatic dance classes.  With 5 years of experience working as an Acrobatic Instructor, she choreographed many routines for recitals for several dance studios in the Timmins area.

Riley has volunteered for the Heart and Stroke Foundation's Miss Teen Heartbeat Pageant for 5 years by creating the opening numbers for the pageant show.

Riley also went on on to teaching Acrobatics and cheerleading for Get Up And Dance Camp for 4 years.  This year, she will be taking on the role as Program Manager; coordinating all recreational activities throughout the week.
