GO FOR GOLD! PROGRAM

Athletes are trained with a completely unique program called Go For Gold!   This program is created by the owner of R&GG by using a blend of skills from the Junior Olympic (J.O) Program and important basic to advanced gymnastics skills and shapes.  All classes will include progressions, challenges, strength and flexibility training, confidence building exercises, reward programs and will include 1 testing day for each term with the Ontario Development Program (ODP).

ATHLETE STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILITY TESTING - 1x/TERM (O.D.P.)

Athletes will be tested once per term on their flexibility, strength and endurance.

Gymnastics Ontario Info on ODP:

Technical Rules and Regulations ONTARIO DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM (ODP) – PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND SKILLS I) GENERAL INFORMATION

 The ODP was created with the Sport Canada Long Term Athlete Development principles in mind.

 To improve the level of physical preparation in our gymnasts.

 To improve the level and quality of gymnastics being performed in this age group.

 To assist in developing a more “rounded” athlete using all areas of basic movement to increase basic skills.

 To provide a more positive introduction to competition.

 To change the focus and philosophy regarding awards and ranking at competitions for this age group.

 To give an alternative for coaches and clubs to use this program for age 6 competitions to reinforce positive participation rather than competitiveness through ranking, as is the Ontario Guideline for 6 years old and under gymnasts.

 To provide 5‐7+ year old gymnasts with a good base for future development.
